It's been a while since I've picked up a detective novel and even longer since I've picked up a modern detective novel. This one is a great guy punch of a read.
Reggie Harper is more than hard boiled. He's been fried, scrambled, whipped, and beaten, leading me to coin the term "get off my lawn noir." The rest of the characters are great as well.
The subject matter, missing children, is not one that is easy to read, but the story is one that will keep you turning the pages. It definitely helps that each chapter title is David Bowie inspired. Highly recommended.
