Suspects that the flirty little she wolf thinks so too but is in high denial and running scared mode. His problem becomes timing. He’s been given the task of forming his own pack further out from the main territory of his father… connected, yet separate. I enjoyed Alpha Wolf and it definitely has some stubborn, sexy Shifters as the main focus of this story. The danger of the rogue wolves intensifies and the tensions are much higher. Sara and Rafe make perfect patrol partners, and they would make a really strong Alpha couple to lead Rafe’s new pack.
Sara has her issues, and she going to have to deal with them as she makes a life changing decision. Rafe is a patient man, but time is running out and moves have to be made. Sara is scared, out of her element and in denial of her connection to Rafe. Their story continued the overall feel of the series along quite nicely and opened the door for the next story.
If you enjoy intense and stubborn Shifters then this story is right up your alley. I would definitely recommend Alpha Wolf and this entire series. Very strong characters, a common enemy and believable (for a Shifter world) situations. I believe you’ll be as hooked as I am on this series.

Sara a wild fun loving girl and independent but she fights with her carefree fun personality worried she was not going to be respected and taken seriously. I think many can relate to Sara. The Black Messa Pack is home and the son Rafe, of the alpha has to make some serious charges in the future and that where the fun begins. If you like shifter books you'll enjoy this one, it's humor, feisty and some action to keep you interested.
This is the story of Rafe and Sara. Rate's father, the alpha of the Black Mesa pack, tells Rafe he needs to start his own pack on their north area. Rafe has always wanted Sara as his mate but she hasn't been ready for commitment. Sara aggravated me a little, such a whiny thing. She's not ready to mate, she likes him, she doesn't know..geeze! But overall it was a good book, took a while but Sara finally gets her act together and what a surprise! Although this is part of a series, it is a standalone book. Overall, a good read.
J. K. Harper writes a great series of very hot, sexy love stories. Rafe & Sara's is special because Rafe knows she is his true mate but Sara wants to prove herself as the best guardian to the other members of the Black Mesa Pack. When Rafe & Sara are attached by rouge werewolves & Rafe is injured Sara must protect him from other injuries until her pack members arrive to help her. This story has all the things a reader could ask for hot, sexy story about love, family, friendship & mates.
I have no idea how long this was on my or if it was a free or paid book. Apparently, Alpha Wolf is two of a series, but I didn't feel I missed anything from reading out of sequence. I enjoyed both Sara and Rafe's characters. Although Sara was more naïve than my preferred mature protagonist, she ad a fresh, earnest quality I found engaging and only slightly irritating (I hated the giggles, which thankfully, weren't overplayed). Good story line with a fun glimpse of secondary characters-- not much depth for them, but I assume they are more developed for their own stories. A promising series.
Sara and Rafe’s story continues to heat up the Black Mesa Wolves series to the point “Love ‘em and leave ‘em Sara is having a change of heart and might just give her’s to Rafe if the pack troubles don’t interfere. 4⭐️‘s and this is a series you don’t want to miss and I recommend reading in order for the most enjoyment.
Sara Kenyon is a Guardian for the Black Mesa Pack. She has always been the immature, fun-loving wolf and now she wants to prove herself to be more. She feels she needs to prove to her Alpha and pack that she is a good Guardian and wolf. That she has matured and is of more value now. This is why she is always avoiding Rafe. The Alpha's son and next in line, also a Guardian and the one wolf who has captured her and her wolf's attention. She isn't ready for commitment though. She still has more to do.
Rafe Bardou has been waiting for Sara for a year. He know she is his mate, but she wasn't ready a year ago, so he stepped back to give her room to grow and mature. She is ready now, even if she won't admit it. She is still running from him and he has had enough of waiting. It is time to claim his mate. He hopes.
I received an ARC of this ebook and I loved the give and take between Rafe and Sara! The chemistry was off the charts!! Rafe’s the Alpha’s son and a potential Alpha, but he needs an equal mate. Sara’s it but she just can’t except it until she can prove to herself that she is good enough. That’s the whole jest of the story and how she gets there is totally unexpected and JK. Harper makes it well worth the read. I’m gladly volunteering to give this review.
